PURPLE REIGN

The cast and crew of ME & marty came together to make a short, comedic film for the 2880 Film Blitz film festival, here in Montreal.

We had forty-eight hours to come up with a story, actors, locations and shoot and edit the thing before presenting it to a "packed" audience (ha, ha). Well, the sound was shot, and the presenter talked through the first ten seconds of the film.

So, we're moving on from the small stage and premiering it HERE to the world.

We promise you'll laugh at least once!

FIRST REVIEW...KIND OF

Episode 3.3

Marty and Annie reconnect, many years after their days in college. She and Marty use to be good friends...until Annie decided he wasn't bringing anything into her life.

Jimmy catches up with Zoe and crashes her private moment. Zoe makes it clear...Time for Jimmy to get out of her life.

Chloe, the one who found Marty's cell phone in a women's restroom at a club, meets up with some dude named, Tommy. What the hell?

Oh, and Kra-Z heads back home to visit his sick mom.

Episode 3.2

Marty makes his way back home, once again. He has to get through downtown first. Zoe just happens to be in the same neighborhood, recording her thoughts for a future project. And there's Jimmy, being Jimmy.

It becomes a chase of sorts. Marty following Zoe. Jimmy following Marty. And fashion photographer, Annie, gets thrown in the mix when she captures Jimmy's unique look for a side project of her own.

Episode 3.1

Confused? So is Marty. He could have sworn he was sitting at his kitchen table back at his apartment. Now, he's knee deep in grass at the local park. At least, he has his shoes. Strange.

What now? Head back home. Again. Marty needs to get out of the park and through a part of downtown, in order to get back into his neighborhood. And with no money, that means he's walking. Thanks, whoever, for the shoes!

But it's not going to be as easy as putting on sneakers and heading home. And what's that saying about stopping and smelling the roses. For Marty, it's a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is it all part of his journey...

Episode 2.3

What is Gary up to? Can you really evict a tenant if they change the locks? And why can't Marty remember everything that happened during the week he was missing?

Marty's third and final dream reveals he has awaken a part of himself that won't be going back to sleep anytime soon.

Episode 2.2

Marty hasn't slept in a week. He wakes up curb side at four in the morning, hungover. He makes it home, only to pass out from pure exhaustion. Marty attempts to sleep the day away...

Instead, Gary wants rent in cash. Right now. Some, young woman wants to give him back his phone, that she found in a women's restroom at some club. Zoe wants to talk about what happen that day. And Jimmy, supposedly Marty's best friend, can't help but to kick the poor guy while he's down.

The thing is, Marty ain't having any of it, anymore. He's fragile and feeling the years of frustration uncontrollably lash out. This might just be the new Marty.

Production Note: This marks the biggest upload. And the most technical thus far.

Episode 2.1

Imagine...You've been awake for a whole week, drinking and drinking and who knows what else. You black out until you pass out. Then, you wake up on the street. No shoes, no cellphone, no wallet. You remember, the reason why you even started drinking was because your girlfriend cheated on you with your "best friend". Now, you might lose your job and your apartment. You almost get your ass kicked by an ogreish dope dealer. You run all the way home, feeling like crap. And puke.

That's Marty's reality. Even his dreams are anxiety ridden. Then, there's the Landlady's jerky son, Gary, who comes over to collect rent, and then some, in cash...or else!

What more could happen to this guy, you ask? Continue to watch every Monday. It gets worse before it gets better.

Episode 1.3 - The Final Installment

Marty doesn't drink. He doesn't swear, lie, or even, start fights. He's a nice guy. Simple. Considerate. Apologetic. And yet, here he is getting into the face of the neighborhood dope dealer, Kra-Z. Has he completely lost his mind?

Then there's Zoe. She tries to reach Marty, just minutes after hanging up with him. Instead, some young woman answers his phone. Who is she? Where's Marty?

Marty makes it home safe, but emotionally charged...puking his butterflies out.

What happened to Marty during that week he'd gone missing? Where did he go, and what all did he do? And exactly, what happened between Zoe and him?

Episode 1.2 aka Act II/Part 2/The Middle

The saga continues...

It's 4am. Jimmy sneaks into Zoe's bed, again. She wakes up to a hung-over and distressed Marty, who's calling her from a pay phone. It's been a week since they last spoke...since Jimmy took over her couch.

Marty just wants to hear Zoe's voice. Jimmy just wants to have his way with Zoe. And Zoe just wants Marty to go home and be safe.

But it's ME, Marty's alter-Ego, that rears it's ugly head, spewing venom at those who stand in his way. And by the looks of it, there's nothing Marty can do to keep this ingenuous part of him from coming out.

Episode 1.1

And so it begins...Marty's journey back into the world, after disappearing for a week.

Who is she? Where did she come from? What does she want from Marty, and why is he so drawn to her?

Well...Imagine. It's Valentine's Day. You're a single guy. You haven't been on a date in years. Your last relationship was long distance via the computer. Six months with a virtual girlfriend, who struggled with depression and eventually ended the relationship because she cited you as an enabler. Your love and devotion made her sad. Needless to say, you've become a bit of a reluctant romantic. Regardless, you sign yourself up for a speed dating event at a local cafe. You go. It begins. Everyone comes off the same...Not interested. Then, she sits down. Her eyes...Her smile...She wants to know everything about you. She stays after the mandatory five minutes are up. She continues to smile. She comes across genuinely interested. Maybe, even, flirtatious. You're pleasantly uncomfortable. You're delightfully wary. You don't understand why this beautiful woman would waste her time with you. Does she even need to be here? Doesn't she have a boyfriend? Who is she? Where did she come from? What does she want? Why can't you stop thinking about her? She asks if she could see you again. Soon.

It's a rainy Sunday. No problem. It would have cost us way too much, anyway, to water down the street for effect. Mother Nature comes through again. It's Father Time that I'm concerned about. Those who know know how quickly time flies when you're having fun...shooting a film. Except this is a web series. A weekly web series. Time is a huge factor in this particular type of production. To shoot, edit and upload within a week, each week. That's the goal. We plan to have the first two episodes completed before the show's debut on Monday, May 14th. With the aid and collaboration of my creative brothers and sisters, ME & marty will be on schedule.

Who is this guy? Why...it's Marty. Yes, that marty. Of ME & marty.

This casual photo was taken last summer during one of his "office retreats". You know, the ultimate "TEAM" building experience. Of course, marty is all about being on the "TEAM". He knows, there's no "I" in "TEAM". But there's a ME in marty.
